Who am I?
Hi there! I’m Sarah, a Gold Coast-based support worker & psychosocial coach. I have a primary focus of helping neurodivergent children (as well as teen girls and young women) understand and embrace their authentic selves and unique ways of experiencing the world.
With a background in formal Psychology training (ongoing), I combine evidence-informed approaches with my interests in mindfulness and resilience-based coaching to help young people flourish.
This means weaving together psychology-informed support - such as nervous system awareness - with my experience working as a facilitator for two nature-focussed, resilience-building youth programs. Throughout my time working with both of these organisations, I helped assist-lead a trip of teenagers to a developing country. As well as this, I have helped lead resilience-building programs for adolescents needing added support in both their school and, often, home environment. Through outdoor, physically demanding activities — including the 48 km Kokoda Challenge (which I led three times) — I supported participants in developing courage, endurance, confidence and self-agency. I also have experience in support work and tutoring, culminating in over five years of direct work with kids.
Throughout this work, I’ve developed a genuine love for creating opportunities for children to better understand, regulate and express themselves through nature-based activities and gentle, psychology-informed strategies. In practice, this could look like nature walks, rock climbing, outdoor play, beach-based (non-swimming) activities — or more — that are aligned with each child’s unique goals and interests. These sessions can also complement and work towards goals established by other members of the child’s support team.
Through these experiences, I aim to foster self-confidence, resilience and frustration tolerance, while creating opportunities for children to engage with support in a way that feels natural, enjoyable and meaningful to them.
My approach is warm, strengths-based and holistic, with a focus on helping children build self-awareness, confidence and practical tools for navigating their world — while spending time in environments that support connection, curiosity and overall wellbeing.
I also offer Psychosocial Coaching for teen girls and young women (particularly identifying with neurodivergence) largely through a lens of lived-insight. This service helps participants to develop the confidence to work towards goals that are meaningful and aligned to them. Together, we explore self identity and understanding, healthy self-esteem and self-image, emotional wellbeing, resilience, fostering healthier relationships and communication strategies, routines and greater independence. This is through a psychologically-informed, strengths based approach, helping teen girls and young women feel more confident, connected and comfortable in their authentic selves.
